A fourth meeting between top Indian and Chinese commanders scheduled in a few days over the contested Distinctive line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh is predicted to concentrate on the critical Finger Area as well as the strategic Depsang plains, which has a complex disengagement procedure that began after previous military talks on June 30 progressing smoothly in Galwan Valley, Hot Springs and Gogra, two officials informed about the developments said on Thursday, speaking for the condition on anonymity.

“Disengagement at Galwan Valley, Hot Springs and Gogra looked doable in the first place. The Finger Area is where negotiations could drag out as Chinese troops have dug in their heels in Finger 4. Obtaining the PLA to retreat in the Depsang sector is evenly critical through the Indian perspective,” he explained.

The Finger Area, which describes a set of eight cliffs jutting out from the Sirijap range overlooking the Pangong lake, remains to be the biggest make sure challenging part of the disengagement process, as per HT on Thursday.

The army would patrol right up to Finger 8 that New Delhi considers within Indian territory, before the PLA grabbed positions on Finger 4 overlooking Indian deployments.
